The website Australians for reconciliation in Syria says that the Belgian MP, Laurent Louis, ‘may be considered a hero by many anti-war activists as he speaks in parliament against neo-colonialism in North Africa and the Middle East’: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uCTZDH3WDjo
But it is well known that Laurent Louis, is an important member of the Belgian liberal party.
His political friend, the Belgian former Prime Minister Guy Verhofstadt, leader of the Group of the Alliance of Liberals and Democrats for Europe (ALDE), is fanatically shouting for arms supplies to the so called ‘Free Syrian Army’.
Verhofstadt pleads also, in the same way as he did in the war against Libya, for a NATO intervention.
As a true demagogue who makes a ridiculous impression, he pleads even for a military intervention of the European army in Syria.
Verhofstadt is a board member of the Belgian holding Sofina which is specialized in gas and petroleum extraction and transportation.
In 2004, he was suggested as a candidate to replace Romano Prodi as the next President of the European Commission.
The Australian website says that ‘according to the German analyst Christof Lehmann, not oil but gas is the reason for ME wars’ (http://nsnbc.me/2012/12/28/the-dynamics-of-the-crisis-in-syria-conflict-versus-conflict-resolution-part-5/)
