Algeria says the deadly turmoil in Syria can be settled through a political solution which seeks to protect unity in the Arab country.
Addressing the International Conference on Syria in the Iranian capital, Tehran, on Wednesday, Algerian Foreign Minister Mourad Medelci said the violence in Syria can be immediately settled through a political solution which would encompass the entire Syrian nation and prevent foreign interference in the country.
Since the outbreak of turmoil in Syria, Algiers has called for a political solution to prevent the bloodshed in the Arab country, Medelci told the meeting.
On Wednesday, Iran hosted the Friends of Syria Conference in Tehran under the banner of “Political Solution, Regional Stability.” The event was attended by representatives from 40 countries, seeking to find a political solution to the crisis in the Arab country.
The Algerian diplomat further thanked Iran for its honest efforts to deal with the Syria issue, expressing hope that the Tehran conference would be a successful prelude to the upcoming Geneva 2 conference.
