I am working for the Belgian human rights association 'Werkgroep Morkhoven' which revealed the Zandvoort childporn case (88.539 victims). The case was covered up by the authorities. During the past years I have been really shocked by the way the rich countries of the western empire want to rule the world. Syrian-American Forum organizes seminar in Los Angeles

    Dec 29, 2013

Los Angeles, (SANA) – The Syrian-American Forum on Sunday organized a seminar titled “love and peace” in Los Angeles, California, which was attended by Syria’s Permanent Representative to the UN Dr. Bashar al-Jaafari.

Grand Mufti of the Republic Ahmad Baddreddin Hassoun and Greek Orthodox Patriarchal Assistant, Archbishop Luca al-Khoury, participated in the seminar from Damascus via Skype.

In a statement to SANA on the sideline of the seminar, al-Jaafari said that this event was marked by its distinguished patriotism which boosted the morale of wise, ration and patriotic members of the Syrian community in the United States.

He noted that the activities of the Syrian communities abroad, particularly in the US, has significant effect on the public opinion, with these communities taking the initiative to help their country.

On his participation in the activities of the Syrian community in the US, al-Jaafari said that he does his duty as an ambassador to Syria’s people, state and government, and that entails being close to Syrians abroad and serving as a link between them and their homeland.

Addressing the Syrian people, al-Jaafari “we only bear for each other the message of love and peace, which is the title of today’s seminar… the battle isn’t among Syrians, as our struggle is one and it is against our mutual enemies, against those who want to harm and destroy Syria.”

He voiced optimism in what 2014 will bring to Syria, saying that the crisis is in its last quarter, asserting that the situation is good both in terms of the UN and international relations and in terms of the situation on the ground in Syria.

Al-Jaafari said that journalists represent a line of defense alongside the Syrian Army in the battle against terrorism, noting that the first year of the war on Syria witnessed a vicious media campaign that failed in its attempt to distort the image of the Syrian government and state despite the massive resources this campaign employed, attributing this failure to the awareness of the Syrian people and the performance of Syrian media.

In turn, head of the Syrian-American Forum branch in California Ali al-Rayyes said that this seminar is part of a series of activities aiming to unite the Syrian community in the US in rejecting US interference in Syria.

Al-Rayyes said that the Syrian community demands that all forms of foreign interference cease so that Syrians may end bloodshed and achieve national reconciliation on the basis of preserving Syria’s unity and coexistence.

He noted that the seminar was attended by over 600 Syrians, noting that a handful of people who identify themselves as “opposition” tried to cause disorder in the seminar, but they failed to do so, adding that this reveals the intellectual level of such people who demand freedom of expression when they themselves cannot respect nor accept others.

Al-Rayyes said that the seminar was concluded by announcing the opening of a new branch for the Forum in Los Angeles.

The Forum will be holding a similar seminar on Monday in the state of Michigan.
